I am wanting to go to thailand to work for minimum of three months.....preferably longer....is there a visa that i can get so that i can work (i am over 30 and no where near to retirement)?

You need a work permit to work. And you need a job to obtain a work permit. Without a letter of invitation do not believe a non immigrant B visa will be issued but in some countries you might be able to obtain a non immigrant O visa. If not get a tourist visa and that can be converted when employment is found.
