Flying one way to several places in thailand more ex than return flights?

Featured Replies

Ok here's what i'm planning.

I'm flying from Singapore to phuket then to bkk where i will travel to pattaya then return to bkk and then fly back to Singapore.

I searched around a bit and found that the one way flights that is Sg to phuket then from phuket to bkk and finally bkk to SG actually costs as much as flying return flights meaning from SG to BKK then BKK to phuket then from phuket back to BKK and finally BKK to SG.

In the former i only fly 3 times in the latter i fly 4 times but somehow all because they are return flights somehow the prices are cheaper.

The problem is how expensive the SG to phuket flights are. They cost as much as a 2 way flight from SG to bkk and back. The domestic flights are obviously cheaper so from phuket to bkk or vice versa is ok. The Sg to bkk route and back is also cheaper. The killer is because the sg to phuket flight is even more expensive than the SG to bkk flight even though phuket is so much closer to SG compared to BKK.

So just want to hear your thoughts guys.

You might want to look into the low cost airlines.  They price trips by segment.  What airline were you looking at?

Singapore - Phuket is a premium tourist routing. Whilst Singapore - Bangkok and Bangkok - Phuket are tourist routes, they are also 'buses in the sky' so the prices reflect this.

Using some arbitrary dates

7 Feb: SIN - HKT with Tigerair or the like starting at about 1400 Baht.

12 Feb: HKT - DMK starting at about 1300 Baht.

19 Feb: DMK - SIN starting at about 2000 Baht.

Prices vary much on day of week, actual travel date.

I doubt you can beat that significantly with your alternative plan.

To KhunBENQ are those 3 flights with tigerair? I really hate that airline it's even worse than airasia.

Also i'm planning to fly before the end of dec and the year cos i will be celebrating NYE in thailand the dates you posted seem to be in the low season.

The three flights are Tigerair and two with Airasia.

Sure these are the low cost options which I looked at.

Maybe you can narrow down what your favorites are.

And from Phuket to Pattaya you could leave out Bangkok by using Bangkok Air to U-Tapao.

End of December THIS year??

No, I guess you mean next year?

Otherwise you should forget about prices.

Hard to get a seat at domestic flights at all.

Don't take the "next year" remark too serious

AND: if you found a cheaper even more complicate alternative for the next few days then book it ASAP!

Around New Year is one of two crazy crowded travel times.

But I guess you know that.

I can well imagine that you flow against the stream?

To Bangkok before New Year.

From Bangkok after New Year.

The masses go the opposite way.

Booked my flights already. Two 2 way trips so 4 flights total and no i didn't say i would be in BKK for the NYE i am sure that is what you're implying. I will be flying 2 bkk but aftwards to phuket to celebrate NYE and then back to pattaya.
