Naklua ‘walking street’ market opens

The Naklua “walking street” market is open again through Jan. 5.

PATTAYA:--Back from the dead, the Naklua “walking street” market is open again through Jan. 5.

The high-season showcase for the Naklua Market area was canceled in October following the death of HM King Bhumibol, but following government clarifications on holding “appropriate” events, the market was brought back to life.

Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization President Wittaya Kunplome announced the Dec. 17 launch of the market a week earlier at Central Festival Pattaya Beach with local tourism, culture and business leaders.

The eighth iteration of the walking street runs from the Numchai Electronics store-Old Market intersection to the Naklua Bridge.

Activities include cultural displays, sales of homemade goods, food and locally-made products. The market aims to showcase Naklua as being one of the oldest fishing villages in the East.
