inventorinthailand
Have 1-year ED-visa, Expires 2nd Jan, Do you think I will I be able to obtain a SETV or METV if going to Laos? Where in Laos should I go? Edited December 31, 2016 by inventorinthailand
ubonjoe
You could get a single entry tourist visa in Vientiane or Savannakhet Laos. A METV is only possible in your home country or country of legal residence.

JackThompson
If you have not received several Tourist Visas from Vientiane previously, they will issue one without issue. If you do have other Tourist Visas from Vientiane, your next Tourist Visa may come with a stamp which states that you "frequently obtain tourist visas for Thailand," and "proof of residence and funds may be required next time." Many (including myself) take this as cause to obtain a fresh passport. Others have successfully received additional Tourist Visas from other consulates, such as Penang. Savanahket used to be very easy-going, but they have recently been asking for proof of finances, residency, and/or itineraries of travel from those with a longer recent-history of staying in Thailand. I would go prepared with documentation for these, and be prepared to purchase an air-ticket leaving Thailand, if requested. You might also consider Penang for your next Tourist Visa, but it might be wise to check with an agent there, first, to see if there will be any issue, given your history. The policies of that consulate, and additional agent-fees to overcome those changes, have fluctuated in the past year.
