How appropriate to compare it to a war-torn country. Being in a war, surrounded by an enemy on the offense, is exactly the mindset I need, just to survive out there.

To fix the problem, seems like a task for an army, over an incompetent police force, doesn't it?

Absolutely deeply shocking figure and government needs to say how it intends to do something about it. (How come Vietnam or similar developing countries do better)

Meanwhile within our families and friends stop them using the mad crazy minibuses, avoid holiday  times for a family long journey and teach youngsters to  drive better and always wear crash helmet to protect head from smashing into concrete road. Putting unprotected babies and toddlers on bikes is surely criminal.

Farangs are not perfect too especially on motor cycles whether its no helmet or one way streets or putting kids on one bike or some drinking and driving. Think if you would  not dare do it UK or Europe why are you doing it here as 'the sun' will not protect you from other careless  idiots when you smash into the lamp posts and concrete.

Most of the dead were drunk then, how do you breathalize a drunk or perhaps it was all the empty whiskey bottles in the back, that must be it!

If the police  catch people over the limit they should take the vehicles off them and crush them, perhaps then they would learn! Problem is if they are purchased on the drip hmmm, make them still pay the balance, fine them, ban them from driving and show them the inside of the chokey for a period.....................get serious with these dickheads or nothing changes...............ok nothing changes car sales would plummet.

The police are Thais too, so it's a case of a Thai giving another Thai some slack.

And what do you think a Thai policeman is doing on his off-day or off-hours?

Right, just what another Thai is doing.

People, especially tourists, are thinking that a policeman is some holy man with a mission to catch as many traffic violators as they can, now they're not.
