NonO options to change renewel/exp date?

Featured Replies

I had posted much the same question some weeks back, but I'd like to take this a step further.

Q: What are my options to obtain an extension on my NonO extension? To essentially push the date out six months.

A: Nill

I was sort of forced into the NonO at a very inconvenient time (mid Jan) bc the agency I was working for screwed up the paperwork or really led me to believe they could do something they could not.

Dec - Jan is a big travel time for us both inside and outside the country. In addition to this there is no worse time to be up at CW. Doing the extension this time of year with all our trips is very stressful. I really want to change the date. I think June - August is the target.

My plan is to cross the border and make a NonO multi visa in Savanakhet and live off that until June - Aug then reapply at CW for an extension.

Just to make this complicated, I plan on getting a new passport as well. As I recall my US embassy slips in a piece of paper explaining the transfer and I do not need to go to CW for anything assuming I cross the border before 90 days.

Q: At CW will my new extension application be linked with my old documents? Will we have more scrutiny upon us for allowing the extension to lapse? Maybe thinking I did not have funds or marriage in jeopardy? No idea.

Overthink: Might we file a letter to be included with our NonO paperwork stating our intention and reasons? I'm not a worrywart but the process itself is now fairly smooth and IO ladies are dare I say almost friendly.

Thanks

It looks like you currently have a 12 month extension of stay based on marriage.

Personally I would leave the country and get a Multi Entry Non Imm Visa

You can then apply for a 12 Month Extension in June / July.

You are over complicating things.

When you get a new passport you will need use both passports until the visa expires. Immigration will not transfer the visa.

They will only transfer you last entry stamp to the new passport and stamp you out of the country in it for departure from the country. Then you  will use both passports to show your visa in your old passport.

I don't think immigration will question anything when you apply for the new extension.

Thanks to you both.

LiteB not overcomplicating, just as you have stated.

UbonJ thx

Just saw a thread abt needing plane tickets to back up multi O. Maybe not such a good idea.

Anyway, I'll sort it. Thanks

They don't want tickets for a non-o visa application at Savannakhet. Only recently have they wanted them for tourist visa applications.

The thread I went back and read was a guy on a non O here in Thailand, based on his kid. I guess he gets the visa in Ireland, but lives here as stated. They want tickets for every entry or he gets a single.

Maybe based on marriage and at Savanakhet would be different. Penang told him single only also.

Anyway, that's my problem. Thanks for the response.

BTW I'd been asked for itineraries and bookings on multi TR back as I recall 2007 at least. I even went to the embassy with my now wife and they'd only give me a double TR.
