Thailand to present sufficiency philosophy at 15th Asia Cooperation Dialogue

BANGKOK, 17 January 2017 (NNT) - Thailand has attended the 15th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in the United Arab Emirates under the theme "Abu Dhabi, the Capital of Sustainable Energy". The Kingdom presented the merits of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, as well as continue the work of last year's ACD meeting in Bangkok.

Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs Chutintorn Gongsakdi represented Thailand in the meeting between ministers from 34 Asian nations. The ministers discussed ways to continue the results of last year's meeting in Bangkok, particularly on economic cooperation and connectivity.

Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai presented to the ACD meeting the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy as an approach to achieving the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The high-so's have sufficient and the people have philosophy.

As far as I can tell the "sufficiency economy" is just a load of hot air. I wish someone could explain to me why it is not.

And they're going to say "it looks a lot like sustainable development, except without any specifics or peer-reviewed studies." Or maybe they'll just be polite, smile, nod, and let it go. That's how it's gone in the past.

Sustainable development and sufficiency economy are not the same and can never be.  I guess someone in the government  needs a copy of the Oxford English Dictionary.

One would think that having been "in effect" for 40+ years, the "sufficiency economy" would be widely understood and implemented?

Maybe something is getting lost in the translation?

Together with promoting Thailand as the true home of "La La Land"
