What happens to immigration b visa?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm starting a new job next month in Thailand and I only intend on staying for about 6-9 months. The work contract specifically states that I can end the agreement with 1 month notice. The company said that after I get the 3 month non immigration b visa that they will also be applying for work permit and 2 year non immigration b visa. So If after 6 months, I decide to leave ith a 2 year non immigration b visa current, what happens to the 2 year non immigration b visa? I assume they cancel the work permit, but does that cancel the non immigration b visa as well?

If it is a Visa from a Thai Consulate it is still valid.

If it is an extension of stay it finnishes when the employment ends.

So I'm applying for the original 3 month here at my home country at a consulate. But the 2 year one is being applied while i'm over in thailand after i get the work permit.

a) So are you saying, the 3 month one here in australia won't be able to be cancelled, but the 2 year one in thailand will be cancelled as soon as I quit my job?

B) Even if the visa is valid, that doesn't stop me from quitting my job right and leaving the country? I don't want to be forced into working 2 years for financial reasons as I don't earn enough from these guys to work that long.

Your initial entry for 90 days stays valid.

Correct, nobody is going to force you to stay.
When you quit, your permission to stay ends and you have 7 days to leave.

The rules changed a while back, its no longer automatic, you now have to apply for the 7 day extension (1,900 Baht) otherwise it's out at midnight on the day your employment ends

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Since the OP mentions two years extension, it's a BOI company, the seven days extension applies for BOI companies .

Yeah it must be BOI because they said that I will be working while the work permit is being approved.
