poi pet 90 day activate

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is poi pet a safe bet for a visa run ?

I have a  yearly multiple o marriage visa and work permit.I have been on an extension of stay for the past 3 years ,so have not had to do a visa run for a while.

Due to a school clerical error  i have  just recently had to obtain a new non o visa multiple entry and this will be my first and last time activating my 90 day extension,as i will get extension of stay next month using 400,000 baht funds in account.

I have heard there may be a problem at poi pet. I am thinking if i show them my past 3 years of extensions,my work permit,,marriage cert and  daughter's thai birth cert  I should be ok.

Has anybody recently been?

Any advice/news  greatly appreciated.

thanks

There have been some reports of Poi Pet stating a person cannot do a crossing for a new 90 day entry there. At least one person was not allowed to do the crossing.

You might want to consider doing it at Ban Laem.

Where will you be starting your border run from?

Thanks for your prompt reply Ubonjoe

I will leave from Bangkok for the visa run.

Is Baen Laem an easy place to get to  by car from Bangkok?

Or should i take a bus? I don't really want to go with a visa run company.

How about Bhan Pu Nham Ron(near kanchanaburi)? That is nearer to Bangkok

.Do they allow  90 day extensions?

Has anybody been these borders by car?

Thanks.

I was going to suggest going there but was waiting until I knew where you were traveling from.

They allow a crossing for a new 90 day entry from a visa. But if you didn't have a valid visa they would not allow it.

Latest reported total cost for the crossing is 950 baht (450 for transport and 500 for the Myanmar border pass).

Kanchanaburi is the better choice. I've driven there many times and the roads are good.

thank you for both for your replies.

hi ubonjoe, you say 450 for transport.

Is this for them to ferry your passport across the border to myanmar side and then bring back to me,whilst i wait in no mans land?

500 baht for  the border pass. Is this the same as a myanmar visa or do i need to obtain a myanmar visa for this crossing?

950 baht sounds really cheap for all costs(excluding transport to/from bkk)

hi elviajero . how long approximately would it take to drive from bangkok?

thanks

You pay the 950 on the Thai side at a travel office just after immigration.

The transport is for you across no mans land to Myanmar immigration. When you get there the driver takes your passport to immigration while you wait in the van or pickup according to recent reports.

The border pass is the same as a visa but only only allows a stay of one day.

From central Bangkok to Kanchanaburi town you need to allow 2 - 3 hours in normal traffic. Then it's about 1 hour from central Kanchanaburi to the border.
