I have a Philipino niece who is giving birth in the next week or so here in Bkk

I want to know how she can get her baby a Thai Birth Certificate and later to get a non O to stay with her child here in Bkk....that is IF the child will be accepted as a Thai National.??? the Father is a Thai but he has run out on her and can not be located.

Dont Think he wants to be found...Not even sure of his correct Family name also..

she is here on a 30 day exemption visa which she can not renew in Jan.

She has no income apart from what I would put in the bank ,if I could open an account in her name ,which we cant do with out a work permit. sorry its complicated. but hope you can help with some Sage advice PLEASE ...

PS should I ask her Doctor to issue her a 3 month no traval Medical Certificate ?

She can get a extension of stay to receive medical treatment and later a 60 day extension to visit her child in Thailand. She can only stay longer than that in refrence to her child if she is over 50 years old.

I do not believe this child is going to be Thai from what has been said here so suspect the 7.23 clause would not be available for 60 day visa stay to visit.

Thanks for answering part of the question...why is her age relevent? Sorry I have not heard of many women 50+ giving birth :o ... she gets 90 days to deliver/Medical Treatment then 60 days to visit after this Then she leaves the child here leaves the country and applies to visits for 60 days ? then what ? I was under the impression children born in the kingdom all receve a Thai birth Cert. wont this allow her obtain a visa to stay to look after the child ? ?

Because that’s the only way, as I stated before, she can stay in Thailand in reference to her child if it was Thai. If the child was in fact considered a foreigner and not Thai, she in fact would have more rights as the mother when the child went to school based on being her being the dependent of a foreigner who was approved to stay..

:o Time for a Holiday. :D

She gets the (one time) 60 day extension inside the country if the baby is Thai.

If the Dr agrees, she can get a 90 day extension for taking care of the patient, if it is Thai or Alien.

Since Oct 1st, this is no longer the case. Unless someone had a Thai baby before Oct 1st and was approved for the extension of stay.
