Kids learning to use the road correctly in the 1940's in the UK. I remember taking my cycling proficiency test at school in the 1970's. Why on earth can't Thailand do the same in schools? I've never seen anything like it. Very sad.15cb77a7b1d01dce2f1f6d2dd1dd3923.jpg

The school my daughter attends has roads painted all over the play grounds, complete with road signs. The children are shown the correct way to cross the roads as pedestrians and then they take there bicycles and are shown the correct way to use the roads. The older kids can go to the school during the summer holidays where they are shown how to safely drive a motorbike.

So some Thai schools do try to teach road safety, but of course this dose not happen in all Thai schools. I drove past the school yesterday on my way to Buriram hospital to visit a relative who is recovering from a motorbike accident. As we approached the school the police directed us around two people laid in the road next to a motorbike, blood all over the road. Of course they were not wearing helmets.
