BANGKOK: -- The Thai media and the media reform panel of the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) should hold talks to iron out their differences on the panel’s new media reform bill which is accused by the media of wanting to rein in the media and taking away their freedom of expression.

Constitution Drafting Committee chairman Meechai Ruchupan said Thursday that it would be to nobody’s benefit if the two sides refuse to talk with each other or one side protesting the other.

He said there is still time for the two to talk and even if the talk fails, they can still find neutral people to come in to mediate to work out a compromise that is acceptable to the two parties. However, he noted that it would depend on whom they can trust to be brought in to mediate.

Yes invite the journalists- its always better to know your "enemy"

Not possible with the governments "My way or the highway" approach. They are only trying to lend legitimacy to their draconian plan. Meecha himself has gone on record as saying he thinks the governments bill is unconstitutional.
