BANGKOK: -- The newly set up fact-finding panel of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) will determine whether there is any policy-level corruption involved in the fresh allegations by the United States concerning the CCTV installation project in Parliament 10 years ago.

The case was brought before the NLA by the US Justice Department a few days ago. The department reportedly alleged that bribes were paid to people who claimed to be advisers for the Parliament’s CCTV procurement project.

The allegations prompted the NLA to launch an initial investigation by its vice president before forwarding the report to its president to sign and set up the fact-finding panel.

"The case was brought before the NLA by the US Justice Department a few days ago."

This is obviously a lie. In 2012, "the Justice Department entered into a Non-Prosecution Agreement with Tyco in which the company will pay a penalty of approximately $13.68 million."

This case is brought up now only to distract attention from the RR scandal.

Wow, it is so pleasing to learn that construction of the new parliament is proceeding nicely.    Meanwhile the game of passing the buck on this CCTV corruption allegation has started and will no doubt continue until we all lose interest. Hopefully, the Rolls Royce scandal, which is also being passed around from department to department will eventually produce some guilty names, despite the Governments rather clever planned introduction of the death penalty for corruption exceeding one million, which is supposedly making the UK think twice about releasing names.  Perhaps, it is asking too much that the Thai authorities themselves would be able to find out who the guilty parties are?    Of course, for them to do so would require a real desire on their part to find and punish the offenders.
