Honda City 2014 Break Down...no answers

Featured Replies

A few days ago, I drove from Chiang Mai to Loei but I didn’t make it. I stopped en route at a small gas station (closed) to use the toilet after about 4 hrs of driving with a few previous stops and as normal turned off the car and took out the key took a quick stop for maybe five minutes. It was about  31c outside. When I came out and tried to start the car, the engine would turn over but no fuel seemed to be getting into the engine. A local mechanic right nearby came over and discussed with Honda call center “1786” and almost ran my battery out but I stopped him. I know that it is not good to keep running a starter for very long periods for many reasons and I never turn the CNG switch on or off as it seems to work automatically and I do not have a CNG users manual in English. (but they did send me one in PDF after calling Tokyo if anyone wants one PM me) I have never had any problems with this car although lately it has been jerking occasionally when the switch goes from regular fuel to CNG automatically after about 1km or so. It also sometimes makes a clunking noise when switching over from Gas to CNG and I do not think this is normal, as it is a new thing. Two hrs later after Honda tow truck came car started normally and I took off. Made it back to CM on CNG and regular fuel without stopping without issue.

The next day after getting 50,000km service and them supposedly servicing and diagnosing it was the standard answer from two dealers  "Mai Pen Rai" Also they said the battery was not testing well so I bought a new one. Two years I guess is about it on these things.

Every New Japanese product I have ever purchased here has broken down in some way or another and is nearly impossible or impossible to get repaired.

Never had a problem with my daughters 2013 City and wouldn't feel the need to have dual fuel because IMO there in lies the problem.

Also l wouldn't buy a battery from the Honda dealer we upgraded in 2014 when the OEM battery gave about a week over the 1 year guarantee.

Also the CNG is great, runs at about 35 baht for 30 to 40km, so I really like it.

Depends whether the car comes with it as OEM realistically IMO of coarse.

I got a Honda City manual in English from the dealer after a month of haggling for free. This car has a supplement for the CNG and of course I have both manuals are in Thai. Thanks but...This is copied PDF from somewhere from Thai Honda.

They also called me after I called Honda in Japan and started email correspondence and made some special appointment to bring the car in about a week as they said they are sending some specialist here from somewhere to thoroughly inspect the CNG system properly what ever that means.

Everything I have ever bought that has a Japanese brand name on it here has always broken down in some way or another with an absolute night mare of a time to try to get any repair or warranty service. Best luck has been to get hold of Honda or whomever in Japan and start copying them on the emails. It seems to light a little fire under their seat.

My fridge leaks rusty water, toaster sets off the fire alarm and the air con thermostat wont shut off sometimes or all the time. (all new products from Japan).

Maybe they should restrict the Golf Courses and Karaoke Bars in Chonburi to certain hours to keep the quality control up a little better like the 7-11 does with alcohol sales. Keep those engineers at work a little longer.
