BANGKOK: -- Cops in Bang Pakong found a monk wandering the streets - but he was not on his alms rounds.

This one was on a mission - he had left his Udon Thani temple to come to the area to look for his girlfriend who had not contacted him for some time and who had blocked him on Facebook, reported Thairath.

Phra Piyapong Mornwong said that he had a girlfriend before he ordained. But after contact ceased he decided to come to Bangkok to find her.

He told the police that he had found her - and she was being held against her will at a house by a man who was causing her harm.

Bang Pakong police told him they couldn't act because it was out of their jurisdiction. They advised him to go to the force in Samut Prakarn and report the matter there.

And he could not offer any assistance ?

Maybe she was politely trying to tell him something.

No boom boom, no take care,

adios amigo.

He becomes a monk and expects to keep a girlfriend?

That seems like an unrealistic expectation to me.

Only in Thailand, man ordains as a monk.

His girlfriend says no nookie no cooky no stay.

Yet he still thinks he should be getting his end away, so sod the temple im off.

why did he become a monk if he cannot follow the precepts?

Every comment so far is so typically negative. All young (Buddhist) men in LOS are expected to become a monk for a few weeks in their life, whether they have a girlfriend or not. How about giving him the benefit of the doubt and ask why the police in Bang Pakong seem to be too lazy to help and send him on his way?

Police not lazy they just want to be paid first before help can be given remember police here are a business TIT

guess the police here didn't get the latest memo about being told to "smarten up their act" and provide service to the public... :bah:

Because it is an easy life.

The gall. Only in Thailand!

It does not sound like either the monk nor the policeman take the comitments they have made to get where they are, very serious.  Again the '' I will do what, how, when, I want '' attitude being displayed, by members of 2 groups whose membership and being allowed to wear the uniform, leaves a lot to be desired by many of those who contribute a positive service to the general population.

I wonder what uniform the girlfriend is wearing.

So his ex found a guy with a real job? ?

The ex is banging the copper. Obviously, der.

Most guys that get ordained as a monk only do so for 2-3 months some less some more. i know one guy that only did 2 weeks!

All Thai Buddhist men are expected to sometime in their life get ordained a monk.

That's fair enough and I liked your comment, but his tenure is not being taken seriously however long he's in for. Pretty sure mincing about on Facebook is not one of the tenets of Buddhism. Far too many 'monks' are totally missing the point.

Many wrong perceptions monks have easy life. If the head monk of the temple is strict , you get up at 4:30 am wash your face and get ready to do your chanting or meditation, then clean the temple, sweep the leaves around the temple. Then you go on alms round to collect foods. You walk all the way to the town.

No easy life. Some temples are not strict then the monks are taking things easy but not all temples.

"I have reasons to believe my gf is being held against her will and is being harmed".... "go to police in that region, stop bothering us, we're trying to watch television"
