Europe is being hit by a dangerous combination

The warming is driving more deadly heat, while intensifying wildfire and drought risks and supercharging heavy rainfall and flooding. The impacts will continue worsening unless emissions fall rapidly towards net zero.

UN climate chief Simon Stiell has warned that the human and economic costs are reaching emergency levels. His message is stark: fossil fuels must be abandoned faster, renewable energy expanded and populations better protected from the heat already arriving.
