This year is my son graduate on his study on the university 

he is not Thai and have the Dutch nationality.

till now he has a ED visa

 

What is the procedure to get a work permit?

how to get?

We are told he has to go first to Vientiane, ( we live in Mahasarakham) and apply there for a work permit.

Work permits are issued by the Thai Labor ministry not at a embassy or consulate.

The employer of a person must supply the supporting documents for the application for them to get one.

So far I understand, it means he has to go bkk?

what about the visa he need and what comes first?

immigration told us that he first have to leave the country?

There is a work permit office in every province no need to go to Bangkok to apply for it. They are under the Department of Employment of the Labor Ministry.

Most work permit offices will not accept an application for a work permit with a non-ed visa or an extension of stay for attending school.

He will likely have to go out for a tourist visa before applying for the work permit.

Then after the application has been done and a work permit application approval letter has been issued he would have to go to  a embassy or consulate to apply for single entry non-b visa by showing it and supporting documents from his employer. After he has the non-b visa the work permit would then be issued.

He would need to be offered employment and have the support of the employer before he can do anything.
