Taxpayers urged to use Prompt Pay

BANGKOK, 14 February 2017 (NNT) - The Revenue Department urges taxpayers to file an income tax return on the Internet and use the "Prompt Pay" system to receive their tax rebates.

Deputy Director-General of the Revenue Department Somchai Saeng-rattanamanidet said more than 1.2 million income tax return forms had been filed so far this year and more than one million of which were e-filings. The department had given tax rebates to more than 370,000 people. More than 200,000 of them had received tax rebates through the Prompt Pay system, said the official.

The deputy director-general said taxpayers were more confident in Prompt Pay since it was more convenient and faster.

There are almost 10 million people who have not yet filed an income tax return. Mr. Somchai added that tax payers can do an e-filing on www.rd.go.th or the "RD Smart Tax" application which is easy to use.

As for those who have a tax rebate, they can register to use Prompt Pay with their 13-digit ID number to receive a tax rebate faster.

In other words please move to a cashless society as soon as possible so we can control you and clean out your account at the press of a button. No thanks. I would like to use their internet filing site but am afraid it will be in the same sad state of affairs similar to the immigration one. I think they should just hang a "under construction" sign on the immigration site and leave it at that.
