Im planning to do a course in chiangmai, my visa runs out on 2nd april and I want to extend until 2nd may to cover the course which finishes on 7th of April. I currently have a 60 day tourist visa. However ideally id like to renew it on the 10th of march as im not sure I can get time of the course to go to promeneda mall near the end as I would normally do.. is it possible to extend my visa this early in the month? Any info on this would be appreciated ..thanks

I had initially planned to do another course but it was, cancelled due to lack of students

You can try. There is no set rules and it's up to the office processing the extension. It's only about 3 weeks early so IMO there is a good chance they'll do it.

I arrived in Thailand (KK) on a 60 tourist visa 23 February. Because I wanted to plan ahead without having to worry about being in KK a week before 60 days was up to apply for 30 day extension I ask a friend to call KK immigration service to ask if the extension can be applied for at anytime.  The answer was that I could apply for extension at anytime during my stay.

I went to KK immigration  office this morning with passport, departures card, passport photo, photo copies of passport photo pages and visa, and 2000thb in hand. Collected TM.7 form from outside of the office which I promptly filled in. Took ticket from the queue number ticket machine sat down and waited to be called. After around 10 minutes I was called forward, handed over all my documentation to a very polite lady. Shortly after some computer bashing I was asked for the fee. I handed over 2000thb and, without asking I was handed back my change of 100thb and given a receipt, which I was asked to take outside the office and photocopy at the princely sum of 5thb. Taking the receipt back to the counter and I was given my passport with everything stamped up and extension granted. All in all the complete process took around 1/2 he and was completely painless.

Thank you to KK immigration service.
