BANGKOK, 20 February 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Public Health advises teachers and parents to take care of their children's health every day to help prevent the spread of the hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD).

Public Health Minister Piyasakol Sakolsattayathorn said that there were a total of 6,790 HFMD patients identified from 1 January to 14 February 2017, according to the Department of Disease Control (DDC). Most of the patients were small children aged under five.

He has instructed the provincial public health offices nationwide to ask local child development centers and kindergartens to continuously prevent more infections.

The best way to prevent the disease is to keep oneself clean and to wash their hands often, said the Public Health Minister.

The hand, foot, and mouth disease is caused by a virus. Patients will experience fever and sores in or on their mouth, hands, and feet. For more information, please call the DDC’s hotline 1422.

This has been going on for months. Teachers and parents are  taking care

of their children's/student's health everyday, but many schools administrators

won't provide a budget for soap in the toilets and floor cleaning products.

Using just water won't do it. It is a simple concept, and yet........ :coffee1:

Yes, and they continue with the silly policy, 3 children in the class must have it before they close the class.

Not only that, they do not provide tissue , so that children, and cooks use their hand to wash their bums, then do not wash hands with soap afterwards.

And then there is the toothbrush basket, and comb basket that all t brush and comb go in together to be used by all. And then there's the health nurse that puts her gloved finger in the mouth of every student to check if they have anything. Thereby passing on colds and germs from 1 kid to the next.

I could go on. But ???

I wish the government would take a stand on hygiene and start an advertising campaign to show the dangers of not washing hands before handling food or handling cash (which is full of bacteria and virus's ) then handling food.

Most people know it's wrong but just say mai pben rai.

Thai Dept of health deserves a big D-  for their lack of action.

That would not be good for the lucrative business that hospitals get near the schools.

Hygiene and Thailand can't be used in the same sentence. (except in this sentence).

Thais are too stupid, dumb to understand hygiene or they ignore the problem and they just don't care...
