DSI meets to discuss new round of search today

BANGKOK: -- The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) held a meeting this morning with relevant security agencies to discuss a new round of search inside the Dhammakaya temple in an attempt to avoid confrontation with monks and followers of the stubborn honorary abbot Phra Dhammachayo.

The meeting was chaired DSI director-general Pol Col Phaisit Wongmuang after failing to locate Phra Dhammachayo after five consecutive days of the mission.

Hundreds of police are still confronting some 200 monks and followers at Gate 5 and 6 beside  Klong L canal with only traffic barrier walls dividing them 20 metres apart.

The followers who remain inside the temple have formed human barriers to prevent DSI and police to enter the area from Gate 7 to search some restricted areas for Phra Dhammachayo although there was unconfirmed report that he has sneaked out of the temple since February 16.

But authorities strongly believed he is still hiding in the vast compound of the temple covering over 2,000 rai with many secret chamber and channel.

Authorities have plan to cut off water supply and black out electricity as a final option to pressure all inside to leave the temple. However such option is still not yet adopted.

DSI is still investigating why the temple has to store over 100,000 litres of petrol inside. But this was clarified by the temple authorities that the petrol was meant to fuel electricity generators in case DSI decides to black out power supply.

Whatever political reasons lie behind the junta's pathetic attempts at 'bringing the monk to justice' (and they assuredly are political reasons, as there is never one whit of concern about malfeasance or financial irregularities if perpetrated by 'good people') - they really should back off now, as this is going nowhere fast and will soon be in the Guinness Book of Records for the most incompetent (deliberately so?) piece of protracted 'policing' ever known to humankind.

To go round and round in inept and bungling circles like this makes a complete laughing stock of the junta (easy to do) and the farcical police 'force' (thoroughly deserved) and just goes to prove that Thailand is truly and utterly a lawless land.

I have never seen such ludicrous and absurd 'law enforcement' anywhere at any time in my entire life as here and now.

DSI meeting: "Yesterday we went around clockwise, today we will go around counterclockwise, that will confuse them. Any questions?"

"Ahem, what's a 'clock'?"
