Five held over fire death

Five men were arrested yesterday after the charred body of a 15-year-old-boy was found tied up in the embers of a wooden house destroyed by fire. The fire broke out at the house in Preah Sihanouk province’s Prey Nop district on Tuesday night.  A district police officer who asked not to be named said: “According to the examination of the victim’s body, the victim was probably caught and tied by a group of suspects while he was alone in the house.” 
 

He said that when police arrived the house had been completely destroyed.  Only some bones and flesh remained of the victim, Meng Tong. 
 

“The suspects burned the house, killing him,” he said. “After burning the victim’s house, the suspects fled.”  Another district police officer, Sok Sophal, said that before the fire, the five suspects drank beer with the father of the victim at the house.
