Throughout 2016, two Cambodians were killed while illegally crossing the Thai border, seven others were injured and more than 200 were arrested by the Thai military, an Interior Ministry report said.  According to the report released on Wednesday, as many as 719 incidents were recorded along Cambodia’s borders with neighboring countries, with 697 of them occurring along the Thai border, 32 along the Vietnam border and seven along the border with Laos.

The incidents included arrests, shootings and unauthorized land clearing. The report did not specify, however, the reason why Cambodians chose to illegally cross the borders.  “Note: Thai soldiers shot dead two and injured seven Cambodian citizens who illegally crossed the border, and arrested 293 people, including 45 females,” the report said.

The report also said there were 353 meetings between Cambodian officials and their Thai counterparts in a bid to resolve border crimes.  The National Police website said on Wednesday that the deportations of Cambodians from Thailand in 2016 decreased compared with the year before.

Looks like Prayut should also put up a wall between Cambodia and Thailand.

Of course there would have been more than 2 Cambodians killed but they refused to turn their backs to the Thai army.  For those that can remember, or wish to remember the troubles of 2010, 58 of those murdered were shot in the back.
