Hi folks,

This is my first post after lurking reading this forums from afar.
I dug up this old thread here. It's archived and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some fresh information.

I'm planning on another trip to BKK and I was wondering about Hobby stores around BKK and whether any BMs share this hobby of mine.
My home town doesn't have a lot of stores for hobbies or colectables. So in every Asian city I visit I go off in search of plastic hobby kits.
I'm not into RC cars or planes.
I've had successes in Hong Kong, KL and Singapore. But not really seen much in BKK.

I like some Japanese mecha themed hobby kits as well as the more traditional military hobby kits, World War 2 mostly, in varying scales.
The main thing I chase after is a little known sci-fi series called - m.AK or SF3D kits (see: Maschinen Krieger, Zbv 3000).

Before posting here I did a quick search and could not find anything on Hobby stores.
Infact Google searches and how they relate to Bangkok are very old on this subject.
Some going back to before the riots when Central World got torched in 2010.
Those older posts, (even one of my own) can be found on Trip Advisor, Lonely Planet and a Pantip plaza forum. Oh yes I've even watched Youtubes.

I've been coming to BKK since 2014, either as a stop over or to stay for a short trip. I've visited roughly 6 times now.
I'm alway intrigued by what I can find, or even what I see in overseas hobby stores. Hobby or Collectible stores are not that common in my town, so I often have the best opportunities to hobby hunt for these types of stores while travelling.Otherwise its mail order off the internet.

In my own searches around BKK for hobby stores I went to China Town - Mega Plaza has a few stores, and across the street is a multi floored building called Always One, it used to be called Pirom Plaza. Always One has a lot of Macross, Zoids and Gundam kits which is fine and well, but not so much in the way of military stuff. China Town also had this underground place called the Iron Bridge market. In the Sa Phan Lek district. (I may not have spelt this correctly).
I revisited the former Iron Bridge market in December and discovered that the underground rabbit warren of stores and markets were gone. They used to run alongside the khlong and there was a treasure trove of otaku stuff to be found there. I'm really saddened it's gone.
Further into China Town there is the typical market strip that intersects through it, though there are no hobby stores here. Mostly fabrics and other office or house hold knick nacks.

In addition to China Town - I discovered in previous trips that MBK had a few stores. These were located up on the sixth floor. But after their recent rennovations they disappeared or else the rents increased and they have moved on.

So where to go?

Older posts in Google related searches, or even meeting people on the street or in malls always used told me that Central was the place to go.
They'd say - "Central, Central, Central", and this was repeated to me like its a known thing amongst the locals. To me it sounded like it was the holy grail of hobby stores, loads of them apparently.
Central is a branded series of malls. In my chats with locals they never said which one.
So last holiday I visited Central World and when I asked an information counter what had happened to these they said - They've all gone now, but Toys R Us still has a small section for Gundam.

Anyway, I've waffled on a bit here. I'm heading back soon and I was hoping that a local or someone in the know could offer some ideas on where I might go in search of hobby stores in Bangkok.

Thanks.
