ChristianBlessing
Greetings. I work in Malaysia and am a frequent visitor to Chiang Mai where I have a leased property. Ordinarily my visits are short and do not require a visa. However, I wish to renew my Thai driver's license next July and for that will require a tourist visa.Does anyone know whether a visa issued in one country (United States) would allow me to then travel from Malaysia or must I actually arrive in Thailand from the US on that visa?Thank you. JackThompson
If you have a Thai Visa issued anywhere, including the USA, you can use that Visa to enter Thailand up until the "enter before" date on that visa. Traveling to other countries in the interim does not alter the validity of the visa.

PoorSucker
Be aware that you will only get a temporary licence on a tourist visa. You can only use it in Thailand. For a permanent 5 year DL you need a Non-Immigrant visa. Sent from my Lenovo TB3-710F using Thaivisa Connect mobile app

I am aware of that; it's my first renewal after an initial 2 year issuance. I hate springing for a tourist visa when I'll actually only be in Chiang Mai for about a week, but it's a small price to pay to stay within the law. Thanks again.Sent from my ASUS Chromebook Flip C100PA using Tapatalk
