Canadians and Americans no longer welcome!!

Featured Replies

I just found out that Thai Lion Air and Malindo will not accept Canadian or American credit cards.  ie  335,000,000 Canadians and Americans are pretty much not welcome on Thai Lion Air or Malindo Air.  Yet they brag about their new Boeing airlplanes.  Rush over to Air Asia folks, we are welcome there!!

Where did you get this snippet of information? A link to the relevant website would lend credence to this (currently) rumour.

the call centre agent told me that directly over the telephone after denying my credit card payment with the useless comment"payment failed."  i called my bank, no issue with my card, and not any attempt made for payment by lion or malindo!

AFAIK, they rejected most foreign issued credit cards from the beginning. I had my cards rejected many times as well, on both ThaiLion as well as Malindo, and I am not a US or Canadian citizen, my cards are issued in Europe.

While I agree this is laughable and cost them a lot of money too (AirAsia will be happy to serve those rejected by TLA and Malindo), you still have the option to pay for your tickets in cash at the "Seven" next door to where you live. You can even book Malaysian domestic tickets on ThaiLion now, and pay for them cash in Thai Baht at "Seven"

i am well aware of counter service payment but if they feel my credit card is somehow not good enough for them , i will happily support all those who do accept it.  they should have the guts to put that on their website and explain it.  <deleted> thai lion air and malindo.  kudos to the rest.

You shouldnt take it personally, they are not doing it because they dont like you.

Do a web search, its an issue for many customers, not just you .

You can book online at travel websites

Right you are,  it is just any of 325,000,000 Canadians and Americans that want to use their credit cards.  i know of no other airline that is so discriminatory!

Are you sure that this only applies to Americans and Canadians?

Foreign credit cards - high fees for the airline. I expect same will happen in restaurants very soon.

That is what the call centre agent told me  I have used my canadian credit card 6 other times with Lion and it was good enough then. If it is others, well, i guess they can afford to alienate them also.  I booked air asia online and paid with my,  drum roll, canadian credit card.
