How to stay in social security system after resigning job?

Recommended Posts

He'll need to go to the SS Office and fill out a simple form.

Unless there have been changes recently the monthly cost will be 432 baht.

He can arrange automatic payments through his bank.

He needs to have been in the system for 12 months to be eligible.

He has either 3 or 6 months after stopping paying through employment to sign up.

He must go to the SS office where he is registered within 3 months of retiring. At the office he must complete forms to continue with SS. I dont know his age as there is a limit to which age you can contribute. If he has a Krungsi account they can deduct his contributions every month.

I did this when I retired. They told me I would be covered "free" for 6 months, so come back just before the 6 months is up. I had started out at the HQ in Din Daeng but switched to the Silom office as it was more convenient.

They advised me to claim all my contributions (10 years) back, which plus interest was quite a tidy sum. This resets your entitlement to age pension to zero years, but keeps you in the system. I set up a monthly direct debit of 432 baht from my bank.
