NLA President suggests government to hear public opinions before proposing new laws

BANGKOK, 7th March 2017 (NNT) – The President of the National Legislative Assembly is suggesting that the government hold public hearings before proposing any new laws, to prevent future problems.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said today that he had already sent out signals to the government to prepare themselves for the new Constitution, before it comes into effect.

Mr. Pornpetch added that the government should hear more from the public about drafting any new laws, as stipulated in Article 77 of the new charter, in order to help the NLA avoid any glitch or protest later.

Regarding the impeachment of politicians, Mr. Pornpetch said that all pending processes will need to be concluded before the new Constitution comes into effect.

He stated that the NLA is currently working on the impeachment of former Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul while it remains unknown if any similar cases will be proposed by the National Anti-Corruption Commission in the near future, as that lies within the scope of the anti-graft agency’s power.

The public will be drawn from 3 categories......deaf, mute and/or blind!

Revolutionary idea!

Why not let the public select the government...

Hear public opinions?? Is that meant to be a joke?

When did government ever listen to the public..... Answer never.

You do as we say, we do not listen to anything you say, your just peasants.

This would be a good idea if the population understood ths issues and weren't, like scared sheep, afraid to say what they really think.

Think most are too terrified to actually have an opinion.  They refuse to talk about politics or governance openly, only with close friends and family members.

And given recent polls show three quarters of them don't understand Article 44. their opinion is going to be fairly worthless anyway.

1: Explain things to them clearly, impartially and repeatedly.

2: Remove the threats and restrictions on what they can discuss and on what opinions they can express.

Then you will discover what they really think - it may be unpalatable for some.

Yes, let's see the NLA suggest that it be elected by the public - aka Representative Democracy, currently Representative Junta.

Perhaps the NLA should respond to public suggestions to. We got no response to our suggestions on a few minor but serious changes. I can't see a corrupt bunch of politicians giving a hoot to what the public think - they are just serfs aren't they and should not be arel lowed to interfere in the corrupt course of government?
