Where can I buy a train ticket witn no middle man?

Featured Replies

how can I buy a ticket to a train, is it possible to do that on the official website ?

The train station for certain...

Supposedly, they were to have upgraded the online capabilities for purchasing, but there will probably be a processing fee....At the station you have to show your ID for all passengers....Not sure about online....

after a little clicking around it looks like this is the official State Railway of Thailand site:

http://www.railway.co.th/home/default.aspx?ID=&lang=EN

this is the official purchase portal site, which that site links to:

https://www.thairailwayticket.com/eTSRT/default.aspx?language=1

this is a separate third-party information site (which does also link to the official sales portal, a good sign), but there seem to be a number of those:

Did you try clicking on "Booking Train Ticket"?  Seems to work quite well.

I'm not on Thaivisa all that often, but it's not as if I book tickets through that site so I've got it all figured out, I just passed on some ideas from looking around.  The one did have a book a ticket button, but I'm not sure about limitations, or the process details.

Another site I didn't mention said you can only book tickets originating from Bangkok or Chiang Mai, as I recall, but then since they've been adjusting the website functions and process that may not be right, or might never have been correct.
