Junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha holds a toddler during a Thursday visit of a pediatric clinic in Prachinburi province.

BANGKOK — A parody poll on Facebook about junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha prompted police to charge a transparency activist Sunday with violating the Computer Crime Act.

Veera Somkwamkid, a former leader of the Yellowshirt movement and vocal critic of the military regime, said he will turn himself in on Wednesday over the poll, which asked users to choose which was true: seven rosy promises from a song written by Prayuth or “none of the above.”

Pretty easy for the junta to use their golf-bag of "laws" (113 - 118; Computer Crimes) to persecute anyone who expresses an opinion which is not acceptable.

And people wonder why the polls are always so "positive"? People understand that if they express their true opinion they could be jailed.

Reconciliation you will like, or else.

"Olan Sukkasem of the Technology Crime Police, the police unit prosecuting Veera, said it’s clear his intention was to defame the government, which is illegal.

And yet, just last week, the PM denied a report of Human Rights abuses and said people were free to express their opinions.

It is particulalry funny that the majority of answers to the "poll" were that the Governmment are indeed doing a very bad job.

So once again the infamous "Computer Crimes Act" is rolled out, which allows the guilty to prosecute the innocent.

Juntas paranoia about questioning and investigative and satire: well that always means there must be some truth behind of it!

And this violating computer act is good to get rid of anybody the junta dont like as it's the open door for not let grow a democracy from the people of the country: only the view of the now acting "government"!

Certainly 'NO' Freedom of speech in Thailand --- Now Days.................

Don't criticize the powers that be............... Very reminiscent of the Taksin era..................

First, not long ago,  it was "No sex, Please........ We're Thai"

Now it is ........ "If you don't like what we do (or how we spend your money on ourselves) ...... shut up"............

It's not the Thailand I have known for the past 30 odd years where mostly or only 'royalty' were protected.............

TIT................

It's time to pull up stakes and show them the finger, preferably at Old Swampy.
