The article quoted police in identifying the victim as Aphirat Nepang, who was in Australia on a student visa from Thailand. Well, it's tragic for a young life lost in this way. But it's not a rare event for locals to suffer the same fate. Rock fishing is dangerous at the best of times but these past few days the weather has been extreme: major storms, huge rogue waves , big tides. RIP young man.
