Suthep takes part in reconciliation talks
By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Ex-members of the now-defunct People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) – including its leader Suthep Thaugsuban – joined the government-initiated reconciliation talks at the Defence Ministry on Friday morning.

Suthep was joined by other former leaders of the group including Satit Wongnongtoey, Thavorn Seniem, Akanat Promphan, and Chitpas Kridakorn.

The PDRC was the last group to attend the talks in the official rounds after the activity kicked off on February 14.

Additional talks would be held in April if requested.

Buying property in New York is so expensive these days

Just goes to show that "Shame" is a resource which was exhausted here many, many, many decades ago.

Private militias (sorry I meant to say volunteer security guards) are expensive, and you need cash if you're going to use your private militia to block a legal election...

Suthep, the cooking oil scam merchant. And latter day monk!

I'm sure he promised to stay out of politics !!!

Why???

It annoys me that this object is still using precious oxygen.

That's why a gravy train is so useful. The Shins must find it difficult to pay the red shirts without being in charge of the gravy train. Which is why only the appointed leaders are seen and heard these days.

Self appointed leaders?

The UDD leaders weren't elected. Someone appointed them. I doubt it was a case of self appointed either.

He who pays the piper calls the tunes.

Suthep and Thaksin cast from the same mold, neither of them should be allowed to participate in reconciliation in person or through intermediaries.

Well well well look who is back on center stage to lend legitimacy to the junta's reconciliation proposal. They dusted him off wound him off and he shuffled out.

You know I am pretty sure that neither the UDD nor any member of the Shinawatra family attempted to block the election.
Then again I don't have your encyclopedic knowledge of the unlimited wickedness of the Dubai bogeyman. Nor do I share your admirable dogged determination to use any discussion to suggest endlessly that because a political movement (the UDD) has not selected its leadership in a way of which you approve it is somehow less aligned with the concept of democracy than a junta government, which seized power in a military coup, suppresses all opposition, and rules by decree.

Can't argue with that.

Playing Devil's advocate, many on here were cheering his efforts to oust yet another disastrous Taksin proxy on, right up until the jig was up. They really are all the same.
