One Myanmar worker killed, six others injured in van crash in Suphan Buri

By The Nation

A Myanmar worker was killed and six others were injured when their chartered passenger van crashed into the rear of truck in Suphan Buri early Saturday.

The van driver was also severely injured in the accident that happened at 3:30 on a road in Suphan Buri’s Song Phi Nong district.

The killed Myanmar was identified as Myint, 39. He was sitting on the front passenger’s seat.

Police suspected that the van driver, Songkran Thapirom, 28, dozed off before the crash.

Police said the van was transporting 14 Myanmar workers from Phuket to Tak’s Mae Sot district. The injured workers are two men and four women.

Those mini-van crashstories are getting boring....And they are always the fault of the driver.

Why is it that with every single minibus crash, the police always have the theory that the driver fell asleep, before they actually investigate the accident properly?

I recognise that it is a problem, with the distances some of these drivers make without proper rest stops, but every time?

Not every foreigner found dead committed suicide either, though I guess these quick conclusions mean they don't actually have to bother doing much work.

Every Mini-Van crash anywhere is news worthy and needs full news coverage,

so every one knows full well how dangerous and unsafe Mini-Vans are..

Some one is going to be making a bundle selling the new Micro-Buses so I doubt

we will be hearing any news about any Micro-Buses accidents....

So the lesson here is..

MiniVans-Bad

MicroBuses-Good

So much for all the Blah, Blah,Blah safety measures,

van crash today, yesterday day before!!.,

Asleep, another reason to legalize speed. When it was legal to buy in drug stores we did not see the carnage on the roads that we do now. Yes I know there is more traffic now.

Big buses also crash every day, Thailand only!

The simple answer to this crash   " The driver did not how to drive " End of case next  . 25,000 dead this year is looking good For that the Minister of Transport get a another medal Must of being a big crash in Ubonratchathani last night So many ambulances and police  speeding to the scene. Story i guess will be brake failure.

Took a van down to Bangkok from Pak Chong a few weeks ago. Was talking to another fellow passenger (Thai) about Van safety. Made a subtle comment to him on the last trip the assigned driver drove to fast.   Off we head and before I know it he's pulling down a side street into a safety check station.  Several young looking police cadets were scrambling all over the van checking lights, tires, windshield wipers and checking drivers paperwork and license. Then the Chief of police came out of the office and everyone lined up for pictures, including the person I was talking to.  He was the town Mayor. The driver didn't know that.  Never saw this van driver drive so carefully all the way to Bangkok.
