BANGKOK, 20March 2017 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has celebrated the victory of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, a Thai professional boxer who has won a winning title from WBC championship, urging the nation's youth to view him as a role model for success.

The Government Spokesman Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd revealed the Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha had congratulated Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, who won The WBC super flyweight title after his beating the "undefeated" reigning champion Roman Gonzalez.

“The Prime Minister has praised Srisaket for his aspiration and fearlessness which reflects through his strong mind and determination that led him to win against the former world champion before the eyes of the world, which was a result from his hard work to practice and strengthen his body and mind.”

The Prime Minister had asked Thai youth to view Srisaket as a role model for success, as he overcomes obstacles, no matter how big, with determination that ultimately granted him great success.

Apart from using his fists what else has he done to become a role model.  I don't really think someone who partakes in violence and hurting others for fun is someone to look up to.  A lot Thai youth are already running amuck and beating the life out of each other.

Maybe he was just suggesting that when you need to beat the crap out of someone, you should do it on your own, rather than getting six of your mates to help.

He fought very well, gutsy fighter and just about deserved the win over Gonzalez. I had him winning by 2 points.

Credit where it's due, he obviously put in a lot of work to achieve this, hope he can maintain that now he's 'made it'.

I think Prayut has shown that the way to success is to bring guns to a fist fight.

Always nice to see a Thai athlete or sportsman or woman excel on the world stage. Unfortunately, this is not something we see much of here, as the state seems unwilling to contribute it's fair share, and give this back to the Thai people, in terms of athletic development. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that tourism and sports is the same ministry? Does this not say everything it needs to say, about how little regard Little P., and all of the other numnuts in charge pay to sports? Sports needs to have it's own ministry. Nearly every country in the world that cares about sports, and the development of it's youth does this.

Methinks the good PM's statement is getting bogged down a bit referring to strengthened body and MIND. Then there is aspiration and fearlessness oh yes and strong mind  and determination. Kudo's to the lad for a job well done.

Yeah...I didn't get a word of that!
