BANGKOK: -- Dhammakaya Temple’s honorary abbot Phra Dhammachayo and its former acting abbot Phra Thatthacheevo have had their ceremonial monastic fans and certificates of monastic rank taken away.

Both the elaborate fans and the certificates were handed to Suthep Phurattana-opa, the acting chief of the Pathum Thani Buddhism Office, and Klong Luang assistant district chief Sermwit Sombat on Monday.

Suthep and Sermwit took the fans and certificates after HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn stripped both monks of their monastic ranks.

The monastic fans reflect the rank of monks, if they have a rank.

Neither Phra Dhammachayo nor Phra Thatthacheevo were present at the hand-over, which was carried out by the temple’s current acting abbot, Phra Ratchapawanajarn.

Phra Dhammachayo and Phra Thatthacheevo are both facing several legal charges.

To date, Phra Dhammachayo has still not turned himself in to authorities.

I would have thought that with the money they have, they could have afforded air conditioning ! :cheesy::cheesy:

You can easily replace those fans at Tesco or Big C and the certificates

in Khoa San Rd......

So what exactly is the article about do you think?

They were given fans, then the fans were taken away, but neither of them were there to get or loose their fans.

Fascinating news, next!

No fans? It is starting to get hot in that temple!:w00t:

I'm sure they are both weeping bitterly into their pillows now. I mean they've been stripped of their fans, for goodness' sake! It's like taking away a little boy's fire engine or a little girl's favorite barbie doll.

Actually, I misunderstood the headline at first and thought their worshippers had been taken away, their fan club dissolved. Monastic fans...

So they still have their freedom, millions of followers, and billions of baht, but they've lost their fans. Ooooh, I bet they're really hurting.

Its similar to the French Foreign Legion. They rip the ensignia off of your uniform and the commander slaps your face with his white gloves. In this case it is done in absentia (Not to worry we will catch you wherever you are hiding bleep)

A "monastic fan" is similar to the very big fans one can purchase in most shopping center but have millions of 1000 Baht notes attached to it and makes a very peculiar sounds...

Sounds that is very similar to Jet's propellers that the monks usually use to fly to Florida or California without passport..

Are monks close to budha or budha is close to the monks?   It seen to me it was real and these monks had a vision and work for budha and the people but now they are working for themselves and the hell with people.
