Address reporting after travel

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

A friend advises it is now necessary to reconfirm your place of residence in Thailand (Pattaya for me) after any trip outside the country.

And that this must be done within 24 hours of returning using a TM30 form. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks a lot!

At Pattaya it seems to depend upon you status here.

They have told some people that were on extensions of stay they did not need to do it unless they changed addresses.

Most people that had problems were people on tourist or visa exempt entries that were applying for a 30 day extension.

Thanks Joe. I have an extension based on retirement and am not changing address. Do you think I'm safe in taking no action?

From the posts I have read you should be ok without doing it.

If no one submits a TM.30 when you re-enter the country the worst that could happen is a fine of up to 2,000 baht. Typically the fine is 800 baht and they tend to go after the owner of the property, although, you could be fined if considered the possessor of the property (e.g. tenant). There are no consequences beyond that.
