Security stepped up at Parliament after Westminster attack

BANGKOK, 24th March 2017 (NNT) - Security has been stepped up at the Thai Parliament complex after recent attacks in London.

Deputy Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly Surachai Liengboonlertchai, who is in charge of the security office of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives, said on Thursday, he has ordered security officers to increase surveillance and safety measures while making sure everything is strictly enforced.

Mr. Surachai said that stepped-up security is needed after four people were killed and several dozens were injured in a sustained attack in Westminster in the heart of London.

He confirmed that the security measures currently implemented at Parliament House are sufficient to ensure Members of Parliament, all employees and visitors that no additional safety programs are needed, unless the situation changes.

The Deputy Speaker of the NLA went on to say that he believes there won't be a similar incident in Thailand because the country has remained neutral on the international stage, although the government needs to keep a close eye on the investigation in London to see how those attacks happened and what may be disclosed.

If you remember not too long ago there was an explosion in BKK.  Hopefully the extra security presence will go unneeded, but I welcome any effort to provide better protection.

Terror Attacks: It's no joke.

Gotta love the governmentitis at times like this, wanting to be seen as being aware, proactive, and moreover, telling the public you are.  Because there's an emergency with no natural equivalency to Thailand, unfolding 10,000 Kilometers away.

So the head of Thai Parliament security seeks to reassure the public here by saying he's ordered his troops to increase surveillance, safety measures, and to ensure "everything" is strictly enforced.  Roger that!

He then covers his butt by saying their normal security measures, surveillance, safety programs, are sufficient as they are.  Of course they are!   And because they are, there's NO NEED to implement any additional safety measures at this time.  :clap2:

Why?  The penny drops..... He 'splains us that Thailand isn't a target because they've remained neutral on the international stage in this context.

Not taking away from the attack, lives lost and injuries, but this kind of attention seeking blather from government jobsworths and other assorted flunkies, sometimes just annoys the s**t out of me.  Rant over.///

Are Thai soldiers fighting for Asad in Syria?
Or has Ko Tee joined Isis?

Would it not have been more logic to step up the security after the uncovering of the supposed plot by Red Radio to kill the PM and other politicians ? Why are they using the UK attack as a reason to step up security. Unless the RR plot is fake and their gray matter isnt enough to lie consistently. The saying goes you can lie to some of the peole some of the time but not to all of the people all of the time.

soon they'll have 3 submarines to help patrol Parliament. Up periscope!

LOL???????
