The government will proceed as normal in the weapons case allegedly related to red-shirt leader Wuttipong "Ko tee" Kotthammakhun, government spokesperson Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said on Friday.

He was responding to accusations that the government had set up evidence in haste to establish a link with the red-shirt leader.

Wuttipong and his associates are accused of possessing military weapons and criminal association.

Police on the weekend announced the discovery of a large cache of weapons found in a building linked to Wuttipong in Pathum Thani.

The ruling junta became sensitive over claims that the raid might have been set up for the prosecution of the red-shirt leader, who is now living in self-exile in Laos.

"We are not shaken by those reports at all. We go by the law and do the thing straightforwardly," Sansern said. "I insist that everything will proceed as the public can see."
