Re-entry Permit

Featured Replies

I am here on an extension of stay ( retirement) and recently had to purchase a re-entry permit for a short notice travel

to Singapore. My local IO is known as a rogue office, in terms of administration practice. I obtained the re-entry permit without problem,

although the Officer must have been tired from swinging numerous coloured stamps and old fashioned ledgers. But the thing that got me was the insistence on taking my photograph.

They have numerous photos already, both digital and hard copy. I am guessing it is a wee scam. Anyone else encountered this request.

A couple months back I did my annual retirement extension, one photo when I paid the cashier.  Then got another queue ticket for the re-entry permit, and another photo at the cashier.  No idea why, just the way it is.  TiT.

This at Sam Khok, Pathum Thani.

Friendly folks there.

Is the photograph, free or otherwise, a requirement, when the re-entry permit is stamped into your passport? What does the photograph achieve?

Proof you were at the office in person when it was applied for.

Everytime I have a transaction at immigration they have taken my photo. As they also do at the immigration counters coming into the country.
