BANGKOK:-- A taxi driver shamed on social media after he had a fight with another motorist at Don Muang airport has been fined 1,000 baht.

The altercation was filmed on video on Thursday. The driver had got annoyed because the other motorist had hooted him.

Yesterday the land department called in 42 year old Banjert Chaiyong who admitted fighting and behavior unbefitting of a person offering a public service.

He was fined under article 57 of the code of conduct and fined the maximum of 1,000 baht.

In addition he was ordered to undergo 3 hours of good driver training and had the black mark put on his record.

He should spend a month driving in Vietnam, he won't even notice hooting after a month there!

he needs  ' attitude adjustment '   training   :shock1:

Keep the fines at B. 1,000 for every infraction, light or serious and those

cabbies will never take you seriously and keep continue with their

bad behavior..... hit them harder and maybe that will drive some fear

into their unruly hearts...

How is he going to afford a trip out of the country? :coffee1:

Ordered to undergo 3 hours of driver training  :cheesy:

Next week same old, same old, total waste of time.

I have been ripped off once, by a taxi and not too happy but the other day i struck one that refused a tip and said just pay the meter price . Restored my faith again.

Want to change their behaviour? Get serious. 50,000 baht fine minimum (or 3 months in slammer if can't pay) and 10 strokes of the ratan.

Another fine example of a customer oriented, safe driving, pleasant, honest, taxi driver in Bangkok.  Now, where's that phone number for UBER?

Probably because the meter was "rigged" ...:cheesy:

"The driver had got annoyed because the other motorist had hooted him.  ...fighting and behavior unbefitting of a person offering a public service."

Doesn't the guy understand that if somebody hooted at him, it was probably because he did something wrong!  Loosing face again!  The Land Department is just as bad by fining him only because he was offering a public service.  So, if a driver wasn't offering a public service, that is OK for him to explode in a fit of road rage and possibly kill the offending hooter!

I don't usually have a beer until late afternoon, but lately, I'm looking at the fridge anytime after mid-day.  It's almost enough for me to think about a visit to the temple to make merit.

Can someone tell me what a black Mark is? Is there a league table with a prize for the most black marks? Is it like a pirates black spot that means impending death for traffic offences? Who makes this stuff up & why bother?

If the driver were not offering a public service the Land Transportation Department would have no authority to sanction him for the offence in question.

Taxi's cause much congestion at the malls in BKK..they just park on the road in long lines and block all traffic.

Nobody dares to horn to them.

Name and Shame seems to be the trick in getting things done..

Seems the internet and social media will be the downfall of thais IMAGE

Is it coincidence or irony that two of your three likes for this post come from captainHORNblower and FogHORN LegHORN? Maybe it's just me, but it struck my funnybone.

the black mark  should be tattooed on to his forehead

1000 baht fine is now a global joke!

doesnt thailand have assault charges to lay against these thugs for attacking people? what hindrance is a measly 1000 baht fine?

The assaulted person has the legal right to file a report with police.
