Cambodia: ‘Sorcerer’ found in pool of blood

Featured Replies

Police are hunting for four suspects accused of murdering a 61-year-old farmer they believed was a sorcerer in Pursat province. Neang Savuth, the chief of Bakan district police, said Im Ty was attacked by the four men as he walked home at about 10.30pm on Sunday night. He was beaten with sticks, hacked with an axe and left for dead in a rice field.

The victim, who was a widower with five children, had been to meet his lover, a 57- year-old-widow from the same village, on the night of the attack. Initial police investigations suggest the murder could have been related to a love triangle, Mr. Savuth said, adding the suspects may be the sons or nephews of the victim’s lover. “The suspects beat him while he was walking alone in the rice field in Tram Pe Village,” Mr. Savuth told Khmer Times.

“He suffered serious head injuries and was found in a pool of blood. After the killing, they all managed to flee.”   He said the body of the victim was found by villagers early on Monday morning.
