MCOT set up panel to investigate TV host Sorrayuth

BANGKOK: -- A 11person committee has been set up by the Mass Communication Organisation of Thailand (MCOT) to investigate the alleged irregularity in the payment of advertising revenue by famous TV host Sorrayuth Sutthasanachinda's 'Kui Kui Khao' prgramme on channel 9 and other corruption related cases.

The committee, led by former senator Pol Gen Prathin Santipraphob as chairman of the committee, will have the mandate to look into the alleged irregularity, especially the indirect advertisement revenues believes to amount to some Bt90 million, not paid to MCOT by Sorrayuth's firm, Rai Som.

The committee is authorised to look through all related documents and summon witness for questioning. It will investigate the reason for the alleged irregularity and the committee will be asked to produce a set of short term and long term measures to prevent such incidents from occurring.

The committee is also tasked with handing a recommendation to MCOT Board as to what to do with the case.

Other members of the committee include former senator Niran Pitakvatchara and Pichet Maolanond.

I get these guys mixed up so I looked for a pic and found plenty at youtube.

A big name on thai tv, countless stories and problems of every day people were exposed one of his numerous tv shows on evenings, he did help so many. One that comes up to mind was an old lady who' s land had been flooded, local officials turning a deaf ear to her cause for years until she appeared on his tv show and explained it all, exposing it to the nation. Weeks later the water disappeared, her land reappeared.

One thing he never did though (although it affected the whole country), was to criticize Thaksin openly. Thaksin appeared on his show once last year for an easy rehearsed cakewalk interview. Sorayud never took a stance, was highly criticized for not doing so, lost part of his audience because he was too concerned about his mutliple contracts. Funny how the "man of the people" was so quiet and more concerned about personal profit when Mr. T. caused so much controversy.
