Cambodia destroys 25,325 marijuana plants in southern province

Featured Replies

PHNOM PENH, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian police destroyed 25,325 marijuana plants in southern Takeo province during raids on Wednesday, the National Police website reported.

Police raided on 77 different locations in Kiri Vong district's Preah Bat Chonchum commune, along the Vietnamese border, and seized the cannabis, as the growers had escaped, said Yuk Saran, police chief of Kiri Vong district. "Some 25,325 cannabis plants in 77 locations were cut down and set on fire," he was quoted as saying by the National Police website.

In February, police also destroyed more than 40,000 marijuana plants in the same commune.

The crackdown was part of the six-month anti-illicit drug campaign that the Southeast Asian nation launched on January 1, 2017. According to government figures, some 6,132 people were arrested in 2,677 drug-related cases during the first three months of the campaign.

Fighting against weed. What a crazy and stupid world.

Just when it's about to be legal worldwide, so stupid !

No weed is not becoming legal all over the world. Only in  Canada

where Marshmellow man  leads the  government. So  dream  on.

Geezer

This campaign will kick Cambodia tourism in the guts.
Half the tourists are there for the hassle free drug culture

Add Denmark, Norway, Australia and Czechia to your list. Germany will soon legalise marijuana for medical use. Recreational use will most likely become legal within a few years.

Seriously, the world needs to wake the f**ck up and stop the ridiculous hunt for these flowers the and people who likes to smoke them.

If they really need to ban something, then ban tobacco or alcohol instead. These two substances has destroyed far more lives than weed ever will, especially the latter. Alcohol can and WILL kill you (instantly or slowly) if you drink too much. Weed just knocks you out.
