10,000 quilts imitating well-known brand seized from Rong Klua Market
By The Nation

SA KAEO: -- Troops, rangers, police and customs officials joined forces to raid a shophouse at the Rong Klua Market in Sa Kaeo province and seized 10,000 quilts that imitated a popular brand.

The raid in Aranyaprathet district was conducted at 4.30pm on Tuesday by troops from the 19th Army Circle, rangers, local police and Customs officials.

Maj-General Hathaithep Kiratiangkoon, commander of the 19th Army Circle who heads the coordination centre against crimes at the Rong Klua market, said the authorities were yet to arrest a Chinese vendor who allegedly owned the fake goods.

When the authorities raided, the shophouse employees of the Chinese vendor managed to fled the scene, Hathaithep added.

He said the authorities seized computers, receipts and mail parcel receipts as evidence to take action against the owner.

The fake quilts were transported in military trucks to the Aranyaprathet Customs office.

Hathaithep said the quilts were sold over Facebook at Bt880 to Bt900 and at the shop at Bt450-Bt550 while the genuine brand sells at Bt3,000 each.

Ratchapol Onnim, a Customs official, said the value of the seized fake goods were estimated at Bt5 million based on the retail price, but overall damages were estimated at about Bt30 million for intellectual property violation.

Hathaithep said his centre has stepped up crackdowns on fake goods at the market for fear of trade sanctions by Western countries.

Central Chidlom has loads of them and they are 9000 a piece from Passaya. I guess that's the brand.

They even have a large department for quilts.
