May 4, 20179 yr I went off to Ubon Immigration to get a certificate of residents yesterday to obtain a motorcycle licence. I was told I need to get a document from the licence department requesting to Immigration that I need a residents certificate. I didn't have to do that when I got my car licence about 9 years ago, probably changed as usual. Would anyone know what is the name of the document at the licence department that I need? Thanks. May 4, 20179 yr Been that way some time now in Ubon. You can get the form needed and have it signed and stamped at the main tourist police office in Ubon. Then go to the drivers license office with it to get the license.
May 4, 20179 yr Author Hi Joe. The form you mention from the tourist Police, what is that form? The licence office need the certificate of residents however Immigration won't give me that till I get a request form from the licence office. Chasing a tail situation. That is what immigration would stamp and sign if you went all the way back to Sirindhorn. From the last reports I can recall about the form the tourist police in Ubon have the forms that can be completed and be signed/stamped by them that you can then take to the drivers license office.
May 5, 20179 yr Author Thanks as always Joe. I will try that way. I will let you know the outcome for your own interest. Sent from my SM-G930F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
May 5, 20179 yr In regards to this residency cert from the local immigration office, what documentation is required to obtain it? I have a similar scenario where I need a cert for a thai DL (Korat area), but I dont really want to go to the embassy in BKK for a stat dec.

Just your passport with normal visa and the slip that confirms your residential which they supply when you get the letter confirming your address from your landlord, you will also need one or two passport size photo's Immigration should have the form to apply for it, they do in Phuket

It has been suggested elsewhere that I just make a private contract directly with her and use that as proof, not sure if that will fly though...
May 5, 20179 yr Weird. Two months ago I toke house book (from the owner) from place where Im staying (no contract, i pay in cash), went to immigration and for 500 Baht they gave me certificate of residence. Then I apllied for driving licence and got it. Did you have GFs house book with you? Edited May 5, 20179 yr by howard ashoul
May 5, 20179 yr As usual it's complex. She is renting on a cash basis, and is not in the house book for that premises. Renting is done via a 3rd party and not the actual owner, and she has asked for the house book several times with no success, so my guess is that will never happen. The house book that she is in is a different area, however we do have access to that house book, but that address does not match my TM7 or declared address, which could cause other problems at the immigration office... Your missus is not the owner, you need to ask the owner for the letter who can also supply you with a copy of the house book, owners will not give the house book to a tenant or their bank book either
May 5, 20179 yr As explained, there is no contact with the owner, this will not happen, I suspect due to the cash arrangement... Sent from my SM-G935F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
May 30, 20179 yr I played the ping pong today, to get a residence certificate to transfer the rego of a car I bought to my name. Twice before, I have gotten residence cert from Sisaket immigration office. Once for license, and once for yellow book, which failed because the first time the person had done it. Both times no probs, and passport photo attached. This time, was different. No passport pics required, but I had to go to Sisaket transport office to get a letter requesting the residence cert. Immi pointed out that they close for lunch at 12. So off to transport, lodge it all, and get you come back at 2 pm. Ok then. Back to town, back to transport pay 5 baht, and back to immigration, and still back to transport to do the transfer. There's one day that I wont get back. The annoying thing, is that we live 2 hours away, and it's not so easy to play these games. Back on friday for the last episode. Edited May 30, 20179 yr by Goanna
May 31, 20179 yr hmm, as usual things different all over Thailand, I got three of those Certificates from Immigration in Tha Yang, Phetchaburi.. they only used the back of my drivers license (which had my proper address) to create the 3 documents.. I had my bill from True from last year and last month with the same address and was worried they wouldn't take either and i'd have to ask my motorbike taxi friend to "guarantee" from me with his house book since I am in a similar situation where I have never met the actual owner of the place, he lives in Bangkok and can't be bothered (we tried). 1x Residence Certificate to do a transfer of registration in Surat Thani (sold a big bike) 1x Residence Certificate to do a transfer of registration in Phetchabui (sold my Honda Wave) 1x Residence Certificate to do a registration in Phetchaburi (buying another scooter) those should be free but as usual, 500 baht each and no receipts. first time i hear that they need a form from the LTO requesting that you get one of these.. especially if they make 500 baht for 5 minutes of editing a Microsoft Word template. 555
