BANGKOK — This magic frying pan with the celebrity endorsement retails for 18,000 baht, but – act now! – and get two for only 3,300 baht.

 

More than the eye-rolling offers for Korea King cooking pans have been the claims made in breathless infomercials the past couple years. Presented as the ultimate in durable pans, presenters – including a famous television host – claimed it is coated with eight layers including heretofore unknown substances such as “gold marble,” “silver marble” and “copper marble.”

In Singapore, it goes for only 27 SGD about 600Baht.

when questioned, woody and the Korean owner claims the one's in Singapore are of inferior quality.

 

To me it just shows how easily one can be convinced when celebrities or people in positions of trust are used to false advertise, swindle or ponzi scam the victims.

 

 

 

 

I don't need no freakin' "Korea Pan."

 

I've been using a cast iron pan for over 30 years now. It's still in perfect condition, can be used with almost no oil, does not let food stick as long as the pan's seasoned and maintained properly and cost a fraction of the price for this stupid "copper marble" and "silver marble" and what not abomination of a pan.

 

I bought it not because it was promoted by some OTT celebrity fella either, but because I knew it would be one of the best kitchen investments I'd ever make.

 

I'd bequeath it as a family heirloom to my children - if I had any. On the other hand, that "Korea Pan" can only be bequeathed to the trash bin.   

Korea? Celebrities? 18,000 down to 2 for 3,300? My three favourite things in life. Where do I buy them?

Got this pan (Korea King Diamond) as a christmas gift. Love it! Time will tell whether it lasts.

Were the public misled, of course they were thats the point òf advertising

If you want to buy it locally go to the Promenade next to Fashion Island (Ram Intra). On the ground floor towards the back there is a True Value as well as a shop next door that sell them. If you are allergic to extreme prices look at Alibaba for good products at great prices.

“Oh it’s so very thin,” a voice is heard saying as the pan is sawed at. “It’s gone just after a bit of sawing.”

 

Does the advertising claim you cannot damage it with a saw?

Cast iron pans are hard to find. I have one brought here from PNG. They are the best by far, the teflon coated and similar are rubbish in comparison.

The price of 'free' television is having your intelligence insulted every 10 minutes or so. For those with little intelligence, it's a small price to pay.

Cast aluminium pan with the chunky rim at the top gives the impression its all that thickness. The rim will be about 3 x thickness of the sides of the pan. Nothing wrong as it serves the function if used as normal pan.
Usually made in China, but important its coated with 2-3 coats of Korean brand of non stick coating.
Probably selling at FOB US $6 - $8

Those pans are amazing they even cook without the need for a flame,

if the picture is to be believed.,more false advertising.

Well, 3,300 for two pans.

1,650 each.

If Tefal brand pans are not on sale, they cost the same.

Though I not looked which one got better reviews.

However, I think I still trust Tefal more as these TV shows advertised products always seem a bit dubious to me.

If they are really so good, why they need to come up with moon prices and buy two cheaper promotions...

I think I never saw a Tefal ad for a long time.

I don't see any problems either. Can't count the times some shop owner jacked up the price 4x or 5x because I'm not Thai. Don't like it, don't buy it.

exactly! sellers here mark up prices so they can put the SALE tag on and bring prices down to where they should be. central, emporium, isetan, home tv shopping... they all do it (to everyone, not just us foreigners).

 

hasn't anyone noticed that department stores here seem to be on sale every single day of the year? the key is to know the fair price to pay. this korea king is no different. who'd be crazy enough to pay for it at full price?

Oh wow thanks!  I'll take a look when I'm there next time.  Price doesn't bother me as long as it isn't too grossly overpriced.  I'll check alibaba as well,  Thanks!

I have a good teflon pan I have used for about 4 years now and it still works great.  You just have to be careful, don't wash with soap too often, keep metal away for the surface, etc.  But I agree, a cast iron pan is the best.  The previous poster gave me a couple leads so I will be looking this week at them.

Whenever I make a kitchenware purchase I look up the brand online while standing there....look for reviews, prices, etc.  The salespeople always look befuddled when I do that, and give me the evil eye if I show them a much lower price or a bad review.  Haha. In my opinion in this day and age if you are not doing that then you are just being foolish.

I do it when purchasing wine I'm not familiar with. Not so much for the price as they aren't very accurate, but the reviews are generally good to go with
