Our Burmese nanny has been working in Thailand for years ; we hired her few months ago. Her passport has expired and also some sort of ID card / visa has also expired. 

I have read in forums and news that there are changes underway (done already?) to the process of hiring a Burmese domestic worker. 

 

Can anyone please comment on the current process to hire a Burmese domestic helper?

 

She seems to think she can go to the Burmese embassy and get a new passport, but that this cannot be done now. I have read that there is a window of a month or so when this can be done every year. 

The Thai wife would be hiring her as a Thai national hiring Burmese domestic helper.
