This morning a traceroute to bangkokpost.com went to Hong Kong and large delays showed. Now it is routed through Singapore and the page comes up normal (fast). So, hopefully they will be able to reroute google soon. My thaivisa pages are now coming up nearly at normal speed, google ads on TV seem to be a little faster also. rainman
Well, my internet connection is working again. Everything from www to email, etc. But i found a way around, which proves the point that for some reason, TOT and/or other Thai ISP's are blocking the normal way to the internet. The cable that broke was the initial reason why it went down, but the traffic has since been re-routed and its back up. Its just Thai ISP's blocking or severely slowing down traffic on certain ports on some routes.

kudroz
Booking flight to Singapore as we speak... Reason? Because the routes latency is bad, now CAT is routing most of the north american traffic through pal6-cat-telecom-1-id.pal.seabone.net (195.22.197.233) which has terrible latency and packet loss. I don't trust the load on the new routes to be balanced and it will cause bad latency and packet loss until they fix the line that is down at the moment. Its just Thai ISP's blocking or severely slowing down traffic on certain ports on some routes. ???? yours is working but Thai ISP are blocking?? Can you provide us some details? Well, it seems they're blocking or slowing down traffic on the lower ports, like 80 (for www), 25 (for smtp), etc. I'm having no problems accessing the internet through higher ports (20000 and above). To me, the story about everything being down because of a cut cable is a lie. It was the initial cause, but traffic should have and has long been re-routed. If i watch TV through UBC and suddenly i don't have Channel 3, 5, 11, etc. but i can still see CNN, BBC and HBO, nobody can tell me its because the cable is broken. Its because someone has turned off those channels.

kudroz
Thai ISPs are definetly doing some funky things with the NATs, because lots of port 80 traffic is being blocked. At least VPN though UDP seems to be unaffected at the moment (not blocked by the NATs) - but latency is terrible.

aqua4
If you cannot get anything. Use the settings provided by "Bram". I can now get into Paypal and just about everywhere else. It is a lie in my view that the cable is broken and therefore no internet. They stuffed up their DNS servers now everyone is in the dark. Thanks Bram for the list.
