Work permit is running out in 5 days, can I renew later on in the month?

Featured Replies

My work permit is running out in a  few days, having a hard time getting a hold of my lawyer to do this...I have a fresh Non B visa good for 3 months.

If it expires, can I simply renew anyways?

If this is urgent I need to find a new lawyer in a hurry...

Also, how long does it take to renew ( I figure same day?) and how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks

If your work permit expires you would have to apply for a new one instead of applying for an extension of it.

How long  it takes to get a new one after it expires will depend upon the office where you apply. Some can be a few days while other might take weeks.

The fee for a one year work permit is 3000 baht plus a 100 baht filing fee.

You should have started the renewal 3 weeks ago. There are quite a few documents required from your Employer/Company that will take time to get.

If you have any chance of getting it done before it expires, then you better get somebody on it today.

Yes you should have started this a while ago, you have all your company docs to produce, your DBD cannot be older than 1 month & there is always another paper that they require

The WP has to be extended/applied for by your employer as they have to prove that a foreigner is needed for the job and that this foreigner is you. Maybe your employer asks you to do it fro them, but officially they are the ones that are responsible for the paper work of which a majority relates to the employer.
