Featured Replies

A freight train killed a drunken man as he slept on tracks in Kampot province on Sunday night. Police identified the victim as Sao Run, 48. He was killed instantly by the train, which was on its way from Sihanoukville to the capital.

Chhun Soeun, chief of staff at Teuk Chhou district police, said Mr Run had been out drinking with a friend and had stopped to rest on his way home when he fell asleep on the tracks.

Possibly suicide by train.  We had an acquaintance (builders labourer) a nice guy who drank himself to death at 29.y.o last week.  Drinking one's self to death has to be the first cousin to suicide,  One of my wife's brothers did it too.  Liver was shot, told to stop drinking, stole an open bottle of lau khow from a family spirit house after a special Buddhist ceremony and drank the lot. Gone in a less than 48 hours from total liver failure.  There is a lot of Chronic, eventually fatal alcoholism about in SE Asia. That Lau Khow is bad news. (Spirit house pun not intended)
